Huntingdon Renovation

Nominated in 2018 for The Master Builders Renovation/Remodelling Project up to $275,000 Award 

With a desire to modernise this 1970s cavity brick home, Frampton Builders was engaged to create a more practical space where each family member had space to call their own. With no plans on paper, we guided our clients through the entire building process from organising plans, engineering and certification, to the finished renovation.


To create greater living space, we extended the home by enclosing an outdoor courtyard that was no longer in use. To ensure the new extension matched seamlessly with the existing home we replicated the original cathedral VJ ceilings that featured exposed rafters made of western red cedar wood.


To allow for greater light and airflow throughout the property, we installed nine skylights across the living, bathroom and kitchen areas that operate by remote. In the living area, we installed a double-sided fireplace as well as frameless glass stacking doors to divide the two common areas. A butler’s pantry was added to the new kitchen, and a new bedroom was built with barn style doors.


Outside a new rendered fence with an electric gate and driveway was added along with a parking bay and carport. A feature pathway with illuminate stone lights the way to the new entryway that allows for easier access to the property.

As part of the renovation, we brought their tired looking front yard back to life with a 300sqm exposed aggregate driveway which was completed in a two-day pour. We created a car parking spot for visitors at the front gate and a two-car carport.  We also laid a feature footpath that had blue "glow in the dark" stone which complemented the landscaping.  The front fence was restored by rendering and painting the brick piers. New powder-coated aluminium panels and a sliding electric gate were added, along with a pedestrian gate with remote entry and intercom.
